Rezi's castle

The outstanding tourist attraction of the village of Rezi, which is only 13 km from Hévíz, is the castle built in the 1300s, which stands on the dolomite ridge of the nearby Meleg-hegy. The ruins of the castle can be found on the 418-meter-high promontory of Meleg-hegy, rising above the Szántó basin, a few kilometers northeast of the village. The view from the mountain is unparalleled, you can see Tátika, Sümeg Castle, Szent György-hegy, Gulács and Badacsony.

Keszthely

Keszthely is a town located 8 km from Hévíz, on the western shore of Lake Balaton, north of the mouth of the Zala River. It is a popular tourist center famous for its monuments and museums. Its best-known attraction is the Festetics castle and its riding stables and castle garden. Keszthely is also one of the centers of navigation on the Balaton, the cruise ships of Balatoni Hajózási Zrt. depart from here. During a cruise, you can admire Lake Balaton and the unique coastal attractions. The city has three large, beautifully developed beaches, and the renovated pier and the Balaton promenade are ideal places for summer evening programs.

Tapolca - Spring Cave

Tapolca, only 30 km from Hévíz, is a romantic town with a Mediterranean atmosphere. Its two main points of interest are Malom lake and its surroundings, as well as the unique attraction in Central Europe, the deservedly famous Spring Cave. The 270-meter-long section of the cave system formed by the karst water running under the city can be visited both on land and on water. Sitting in a boat in the narrow, atmospherically lit passages covered with water, we can row ourselves and enjoy the beauty of the cave.

Szigliget

Szigliget is located 24 km from Hévíz, on the northern shore of Lake Balaton, on the peninsula between Badacsony and Keszthely. For a long time, the settlement was an island, accessible only by boat and ship. Nowadays, it is a real small village with a quiet, peaceful location, with approximately 1,000 inhabitants, which has a typical settlement image. His residences were built one above the other in a row on the side of the castle hill. However, the main attraction of Szigliget is the 750-year-old Szigliget Castle, which rises above the settlement and is located on top of the 239-meter high castle hill and offers an unparalleled panorama of the surrounding area.

Badacsony

Badacsony is only 18 km from Hévíz, one of the unmissable hiking spots on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. The mountain is wedged between two bays of Lake Balaton, has fabulous hiking trails and a magical panorama. Although the mountain stopped spewing fire millions of years ago, it is still home to special geological formations, so-called basalt organs. On its slopes, there is a special vineyard from which the well-known Badacsony wine is made. There is no shortage of culinary experiences here, you can choose between numerous wine cellars and cozy restaurants when you visit. Badacsony has several viewpoints and attractions, so we can easily organize a whole day program here, we won't regret it.

Kápolnapuszta - Buffalo reserve

28 km from Hévíz, we find the buffalo reserve, which plays an important role in the survival and preservation of the gene pool of the buffalo, which is indigenous to our country, and is also a popular center for the presentation of the species. The biggest herd of buffalo that can be visited in Hungary lives here. Binoculars help the visitor to observe the animals, in addition to the peacefully frolicking and grazing buffaloes, you can also see friendly goats and nimbly running ground squirrels. The exhibition in the reception building presents the rich wildlife of Kis-Balaton to visitors.

Somogyvámos - Krishna völgy

Only 16 km from Hévíz, on the border of Somogyvámos, you can find the Krishna valley. The village itself has a significant historical past, the Pusztatorony, one of the most important medieval church ruins in Somogy county, is located here, which stands out from the surrounding grain fields from afar.

Krishna völgy is a uniquely beautiful and interesting place. The nearly 300-hectare Indian Cultural Center and Biofarm was established with the aim of introducing visitors to the values ​​and spirituality of an ancient, spiritual culture. The valley is an unforgettable sight for anyone to visit.

Zalakomár - Small Balaton

40 km from Hévíz is the area of Kis-Balaton, i.e. the mouth of the Zala river. This fabulous place is full of both natural and cultural attractions. The marshy area with its significant plant, fish and bird life offers visitors a unique experience. Its most popular destination, which can be visited freely, is the Kányavári Island, where you can get to know the birdlife that lives here by walking the Búbos vòcsök nature trail, and on the Diás Island you can look into the world of egrets. The vineyards near Kis-Balaton offer a breathtaking view of Lake Balaton, Szigliget and Badacsony.
